Steel Beams

A common type of I-beam is the rolled steel joist (RSJ). These sections have parallel flanges, as opposed to the varying thickness of RSJ flanges. Parallel flanges are easier to connect to and reduce the need for tapering washers. Universal Columns have equal or near-equal width and depth, and are more suited to being orientated vertically. The allows them to carry axial loads, such as columns in multi-storey construction or beam elements in floors.

RSJ’s are widely used in the construction industry and we supply a variety of standard sizes. RSJ’s may be used both as beams and as columns.
